Hark! Let’s brew something dark! We taste rich chocolate-walnut fudge in this blend, and a spicy, starry complexity from the addition of a rare Indonesian Sulawesi. It will not do to say of night, since dark is what brings out your light.
2017 is our fourth edition of Winter Solstice. This year’s blend features a very rare and special coffee from Indonesia, namely a Sulawesi coffee grown by small holders in the tiny Toraja region, as well as a Sumatra Mandheling, Guatemala Huehuetenango, and Colombia Huila.
In the cup, the blend may be described as a complex, full-bodied combination of herbal and assertive Indonesian coffees with a round pleasing aftertaste of roasted walnuts and dark chocolate. It is a dense and complex coffee blend enjoyable in a French Press, pourover or high quality automatic drip maker like the Moccamaster.
"Brewed in a percalator. I don’t love an oily coffee so this was hard to drink black. Paired very nice with a seasonal spiced cream but it is not something I would drink black which is normally how I drink my morning coffee. "
