Curator's Notes

Oh my darling Clementine: Guatemala Chuito is a clementine cake in a mug. It's Kuma's ninth year carrying Guatemala Chuito, and our fifth! We look forward to this roast every year for its lush flavors of brown sugar, sweet citrusy clementine, and nutty dark chocolate. We look forward to this cup every year.

Roaster's Notes

This is our eighth year of carrying this fantastic coffee. We first visited Concepcion Chuito with Luis Pedro Zelaya Zemora in February 2011. He drove us to the highest part of the farm and we looked down at the valley at the parameter of Antigua down below. The coffee wasn't ready to cup at the time, but when samples came a few months later we fell in love with the coffee. Chuito is sure to be a crowd pleaser for those looking for an intensely sweet every day drinker and for those looking for lots of fruit characterisitcs in their cup. This coffee has big body and sweetness so will make both excellent espresso and filter coffee. Three cheers for Chuito!

"I don’t normally care for lighter blends, but this was pretty good. The flavors gave it more of a darker roast feel IMO"

"The smell is woodsy with hints of richness and toffee to come. The coffee is tart with moderate acidity and slight bitterness."

"Pretty good. Had it in a sampler. While undoubtedly great on its own, didn't quite like it as much as the others (Lighthouse Roaster's Roaster's Choice, Herkimer's Drip Blend, & Conduit's Columbia). But you won't go wrong by getting it. "

"This is the delicious coffee. We really enjoyed it. It tasted like toasted marshmallows and toffee a bit. Hint of dried cranberry. Very smooth, and would definitely order again. Brewed by pour-over on a v60. Grind was medium-fine."

"I brewed this with my Aero Press. I think this is one of my favorites. The acidity was well balanced. The fruitiness was not overwhelming. Will get the larger bag of this."
