For Tory, a midday break consists of a change of scenery, loud music and maybe a second cup of coffee.
§ What time do you get to sleep? What time do you wake up?
I almost always unintentionally fall asleep on the couch at about 9pm, then wake up and convince myself to get ready for bed at around 1am. It's a habit I should break, but what can I say, sleep has always been one of my favorite hobbies and I just sorta fall asleep without trying, heh. I am up for the day between 7-8am most days.
§ What do you dream about?
Oh man, seems it's usually about my friends and family and different scenarios we get into together. Often they're incredibly realistic and it takes me a minute to realize it was a dream when I wake up... which is either a relief if it was becoming a nightmare, or a disappointment if it was something amazing!
§ What’s the first thing you do once you’re awake?
Turn on my coffee maker, give my dogs each a treat, and let them outside. Sometimes I step outside with them, when the air is still chilly and no one else is up yet. I love the way everything looks and feels outside first thing.
§ What morning ritual do you have that’s sacred to starting your day off right?
Definitely making coffee and looking at or reading things that inspire me for a bit. I've learned I'm most productive when I allow myself a little time to wake up before diving into work. I like browsing my favorite stores like Urban Outfitters, catching up on YouTube, or looking through Instagram & Pinterest. And lately I've been reading a page a day from this book my sister got me called Jesus Calling that I really love!
§ What one possession/object is essential to your morning?
My Sackcloth & Ashes blanket! I work from my couch with my laptop quite literally on my lap, and I have to have a blanket on me too. Doesn't hurt that it's a super cute one!
§ With whom do you spend your mornings?
My husband in the 15 minutes or so before he leaves for work, and my two dogs, Mud & Cinderella. They sleep on their own mini couches while I'm on mine, and they motivate me to get up and go outside every once in a while!
§ What do you eat for breakfast?
I go through phases where I will make something healthy every morning like a smoothie or vegetable scramble and then other times I order Cinnamon Rolls from my Milkman and eat those everyday for a week.
§ What kind of coffee do you drink in the morning, and how do you prepare it?
I love espresso blends for drip coffee. Half & half is my favorite addition to coffee, and sometimes I split it with a little creamer - usually this Vanilla Ice Cream one I like, or Peppermint Mocha!
§ What’s the one upgrade you wish you could add to your morning?
I've always wanted to be that person who wakes up and goes for a walk or does some type of workout first thing. But so far I haven't accomplished that goal...!
§ What do you consider the end of your morning?
Usually at about noon I start feeling a crash from my morning energy burst and that's when I take a break. I really like to get out of the house and drive around a bit, maybe get a second cup of coffee somewhere, and listen to loud music. It's how I recharge and stay inspired midday.
