How do I get into coffee if I'm totally new?

I always have the same suggestions for folks looking to "get into" coffee and brew better at home:

  1. Buy fresh beans. Look for a roasted on date that's within 1 week. We're happy to help with this!
  2. Grind just before you brew. The grinder is where your investment in your new hobby will pay off, far more than any kind of brewing gear.
  3. Use filtered water.

My favorite introductory book on coffee is The World Atlas of Coffee. Start slow, and expand your palate with every cup.
