"Slightly spicy, slightly sweet flavor over a full body and very smooth mouthfeel. Really nice to sit and savor."
"Very good African coffee. Slightly sweet with distinctive fruity African coffee taste. Many Kenyan coffees we have had from other roasters have a very similar flavor. Slate is an excellent roaster, would order this coffee again."
"This was sensational!!!! I enjoyed every last cup! If it wasn't a holiday roast I'd have it year round!"
"My Dad calls this a coffee's coffee. It's a great coffee for breakfast. He has ordered it many times before and will order it many times again!"
"Solid dark roast. The smokiness doesn’t overpower the coffee. I would definitely buy it again."
"I really enjoyed this one. I could pick up on the pomegranate, but still sweet enough it wasn't bitter. "
"Nice complexity and richness in the flavor, though it soured quickly as it cooled."
"Really liked this coffee. As a lover of acidic coffees, I thought this coffee had a nice acidic profile, without be overly powerful. Has some very nice vanilla and caramel tones. Did not think it was too fruity. Would definitely buy a whole bag!"
"This is not your standard dark roast. The buttery biscuity notes send it over the top! Well balanced, yet interesting. Could drink this every day."
"I've never been disappointed by Victrola, and I can say this roast is exceptional like always. Smooth and inviting for a light roast, almost too light for me so I decreased my usual water to bean ratio. Awesome. Brew Methods Used : aeropress + Pour-Over."
"Bold dark roast coffee. Very good, with fairly smooth with clean finish. Would purchase this coffee again."
"A good drip brew. Both of us Enjoyed it. Was pretty good. "
"The tasting notes mentioned salmonberry. I had never tasted or even heard of salmonberries before, but if they taste like this coffee-WOW. The coffee was delicious and one of the best I've received. I brewed it with an aero press. "
"Amazingly tastes like blueberries. Before we even read the description blueberries were the first thing that we could taste. Good coffee overall. Nice fruity African coffee. We would purchase this coffee."
"I fell in love with this coffee from the first sip. It's magically dark and smooth and creates a wonderful aroma - everything I could possibly want from a dark roast. Makes you feel like you're wrapped in a warm sweater and perfect for fall."
"I supposedly received Vashon Midnight Blend as part of an all dark trial sampler. I was looking forward to trying it as the name was intriguing. The actual shipment contained this Guatemalan Reserve however. Not all disappointment as I like Guatemalan. A good choice when wanting darker medium roast."
"Herkimer coffee is always a good idea! It is good for french press and mocha pot. Usually, I drink coffee with milk, but this is also good without milk. Taste of caramel and some spices are excellent. You need to try Herkimer!"
"I brewed this every which-way (aeropress, pourover, french press, and espresso). Really a standout espresso and FP with its chocolatey dark smoothness. OK but not stellar as a pourover as some of the notes are lost in the darkness. Highly recommend as espresso though!"
"This coffee was rather delicious and reminded me of Montana with the blackberry flavor and the hits of chocolate. So good!"
"I made this hot (despite the name), and was treated to a wonderful cup of coffee. Really beautiful flavors--light chocolate and berry notes--definitely a crowd and palate pleaser."
"Any coffee with chocolate notes can't be bad. Especially with a breakfast pastry. This was a great selection"
"Would drink again, but wouldn't go out of my way for it. The nutty flavor is nice. "
"I'm a fan of Gutemalans and this left my happy. Low acidity, good aftertaste (not burned or ashy). Burr grinder, brewed in chemex."
"Lovely espresso roast. Used the beans to make lattes for myself and others. Everyone enjoyed the drinks."
"Great full flavor coffee. We have not had a coffee from this roaster yet but, this was a great introduction. Strong bold carmel like flavor with fruity notes. Coffee visually looked like a few different coffees with slightly different roasts."
"One of my favorite light roasts. Smooth with a strong--but not overwhelming--citrus taste upfront, which quickly fades off into a sweeter vanilla finish. I like that it's not overpowering; the flavors and sweetness are well-balanced, and the aftertaste is pleasant. Made with a moka."
"Subtle chocolate notes, which makes a nice morning treat to start the day. "
"Ive been with BeanBox since 2015 and this is by far the best coffee I have received!! and when you look at my ratings, I dont give out such praise. Dark but not bitter, flavorful but not overbearing. this is how a darker roast should be. Nice work!!!"
"Didn't particularly get the flavors but the coffee was smooth and very easy to drink"
"First let me say bean box is amazing.its a highlight to my month.Didn't think I would really like this coffee due to the tobacco notes but wow!!!!!.the depth and intensity of this cup made me want more just a tiny bit of cream.its time to order a full bag."
"Excellent! I am not one for dark coffee usually because of the bitterness. This one is SO smooth just like it says. Delicious. I don't even need creamer!"
"Perfectly bold enough for my fiance. This was his favorite of the month "
"A very well-balanced coffee overall. Definitely my favorite in the sampler box I received. It's remarkably smooth for a dark roast with the dark cocoa with a hint of nutty/cherry coming through. I made a cold brew with Bearded Lady and it did not disappoint. Thumbs up! "
"I really liked this smoky dark roast. You can sense the underlying chocolate notes, but I found they were more pronounced from my french press than the chemex. Something was lost via the paper filter I felt. "
"Smooth, balanced, and tasty. Good for sitting back and relaxing after a long day at work!"
"We're not fancy or coffee afficianados by any means. These are the first beans we have used with our new espresso machine, but we love them! A full-bodied roast that give great flavor to our lattes. Neither my husband nor I find the tobacco flavor to be overpowering."
"The description from bean box is right on. The fruit is light and bright (not too bright though) and it's mellowed out by the banana and caramel. Yummy. "
"This is my perfect coffee style. Works great hot or iced. Great flavors and body. So good I ordered a full bag!"
"I fell in love with Kona coffee a long time ago, but truly great cups of Kona in the US are few and far between. Either you get a blend with hardly any Kona in it, or the beans are long past their prime. Not this one, it's exceptional. Lush, smooth and rich. Full of flavor and perfectly balanced."
"Definitely making it on to my list of favorites. Full bodied with a distinctive taste. I absolutely loved this blend. "
"One of my favorites from Kuma — a very flavorful and lively coffee!"
"A little more acidic than I would have guessed based on the aroma, but still smooth enough to drink in bulk on a lazy Saturday morning!"
"Exotic enough to excite, familiar enough to comfort. I'll enjoy getting to know these beans better."
"This was my favorite this month! It does really well in a french press"
"This is my ideal coffee. light roast, AMAZING smell, great taste. I'm going to order a bag. "
