Sweet cherry pie in the sky! Fine Burundi coffees are known for their unbridled fruit flavors. This bright cup is brimming with cherries, berries, and plums, with a savory undercurrent of maple to hold it all together. Simply delightful.
The Ubwiza Bw’ikawa cooperative started in 2009 and represents 800 producers. They have made it their mission to oppose discrimination by actively promoting inclusivity in supporting women farmers and marginalized ethnic groups in the region. The coffee is fully washed, hand sorted, and dried on raised beds. Cupping notes: On the nose- Sweet, heady, fragrant berry fusion; maple & cherry forward. Taste- Bright Maraschino cherries, sweet maple, pomegranate, cranberry, & Pinot Noir. Not your typical Burundi. Very unique, lively, medium bodied, with a tart acidity, & delicious, complex finish.
"This coffee is slightly acidic at the front of the tongue, as well as with the aftertaste, with sweet fruity notes. The cherry comes through best. This coffee is good by itself with no cream and sugar. After adding any amount of cream it drowned out the light fruity flavors. "
"Amazing coffee. Such great flavor, the first thing that hit me was the taste of red/purple fruits and it was so complementary to the molasses and brown sugar light sweetness. A lot like the perfection of a chocolate covered cherry, without too much sweetness. I loved the pomegranate taste. So good."
"Just ok - was looking forward to the pomegranate/maple but none of that came through. (chemex/Wave)"
"Really enjoyed the cheery in this blend. OH! Can't forget the subtle maple taste you get on the finish! Makes for a great cup of coffee in the morning, very unique! "
"Good coffee with a little sweetness to it! Interesting to see there is an espresso version as well."
"Lovely chocolate aroma when opening the bag. Good body and nice long finish. Very cozy. RIch and gently fruity, like a cherry chocolate but with nice toasty flavours. This makes a great aeropress cup of coffee."
"Nice cherry and pomegranate notes makes this single origin a winner. "
