Cobán, known for its misty weather, may be the “Seattle” of Guatemala! These beans come from Luis Valdez, two-time Cup of Excellence grower. In this cup, ripe raspberries sparkle within a body of rich, spiced cocoa. It leaves us misty-eyed.
This is our second year buying coffee from Luis Valdez Jr, (aka "Wincho"), who oversees two farms in Guatemala's Cobán region. This washed coffee is a mix of Caturra and Catuai, and reminds us of cherry, raspberry, and allspice.
"Nice cherry-raspberry tartness and fruitiness, very good"
"This cuppa unfortunately just wasn’t for me, even though the description had me sold. A little too bright and acidic for me. I gifted this to a friend and they reported back with ‘how come you don’t like this?!’"
"Loved the raspberry hints in this one! Delicious even as it cooled down. I didn't find any hints of allspice...seemed mostly fruity but it was a great cup of coffee."
"A little to sour for my taste. And didn't get any allspice notes "
"Amazing!! I love cocoa in my coffee and raspberry is my favorite! I brewed single serve cups and couldn’t stop myself from going back for more. It wasn’t too sweet and the flavors weren’t overwhelming. "
"This is the first coffee from D&W that I had the pleasure drinking. The raspberries had a distinctive note that helped make this cup delicious. "
